Academician Branimir Gudurić

• Corresponding Member of the Vojvodina Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2004, and of the Medical Academy SLD, Belgrade, since 2002.
• Full Member of the Vojvodina Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2010.
• Born in Niš, on 5 February 1940. Graduated in 1963 and obtained his master’s degree in 1973, at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade, obtained his doctorate in 1976 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Novi Sad.
• Full Professor of Surgery and Surgical Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Novi Sad, and Surgical Oncology Advisor at the Institute of Oncology, Sremska Kamenica (retired).

Areas of Research

Establishing and developing the techniques of screening, diagnostics, course and rehabilitation in the treatment of malignant neoplasms of the breast, endocrine glands and abdominal tumors. The application of combined treatments (conservative surgery with radiation therapy and reconstructive procedures with cancer of the breast, preoperative radiation and radical surgery of advanced rectal carcinoma etc. Presented and published 237 scientific papers in total, editor in two monographs, author of one chapter in foreign and six chapters in domestic monographs, and three in textbooks. Visiting (IREX) Research Professor in Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Recipient of the 1998 “Prof. Dr. Voja Stojanović” Plaque for his scientific and research work from the Serbian Association of University Professors and Scientists, Belgrade, as well as the 1998 October Award of the City of Novi Sad.
