Academician Rudolf Kastori

• International Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 1998, and a Full Member of the Vojvodina Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2004.
• Born in Karlovac (Croatia), on 8 October 1935. Graduated in 1958, obtained his doctorate in 1963, at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad.
• Full Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, Associate of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (retired).

Areas of Research

The mineral nutrition of plants (the influence of biotic and abiotic factors on the absorption, accumulation, distribution and metabolism of mineral matter); agro-ecosystem protection (metabolism and accumulation of nitrate in plants, the effect of heavy metals on the life processes in plants). He has published, independently, or collectively, 298 scientific papers and 31 professional papers, 16 books, 2 scripts, 24 chapters in monographs, he is the editor of 4 monographs, he has presented 177 papers at scientific conferences. He has received many awards (22) for his scientific and educational work: Julius Kühn Plakette Martin Luther Universität Halle, 1985, 1988 October Award of the City of Novi Sad, Memorial Medal of the University of Agriculture, Brno, 1989, Golden Plaque from the Serbian Association of University Professors and Scientists for his Life Work in 1996. He has 142 citations in 82 books, without self-citations, there are 88 of his works in the AGRIS International Database since 1975, and 48 works in the AGRICOLA, citation in SCI 133.
